MOT Parents’ Workshop: Third Parents’ Workshop for the Year

MOT SA hosted its third Parents’ Workshop of the year on 13 September, in partnership with PBIRC and with the support of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). The workshop aimed to equip caregivers with practical tools, insights, and strategies to positively support their children’s growth and development.

Understanding Everyday Scenarios

The workshop addressed a variety of common situations that children encounter—from navigating friendships and peer pressure to managing academic challenges and emotional ups and downs. Parents received guidance on responding thoughtfully, fostering an environment where children feel understood, supported, and empowered to make constructive choices.

Applying MOT’s Values in Parenting

Central to the workshop were MOT’s core values: the Courage to Live, the Courage to Care, and the Courage to Say No. Participants learned how to integrate these principles into daily parenting, helping children develop resilience, empathy, and self-confidence. By modelling these values, parents can inspire their children to make positive choices and navigate life’s challenges with integrity and courage.

Hands-On Learning Through Practical Activities

Parents engaged in interactive exercises designed to simulate real-life situations. These activities provided a safe space to practise responses, share experiences, and receive constructive feedback. This hands-on approach left participants with actionable skills and renewed confidence in their parenting journey.

Voices from the Workshop

MOT Parents' Workshop:

The workshop offered a supportive environment for parents to share reflections and learn from one another. Many parents expressed heartfelt appreciation for the experience:

  • “Thank you, MOT team, the experience was great. Thank you sooo much for a well-organised workshop and for your professionalism. Wish more parents could join next time.”

The Parents’ Workshop is a community-building experience that strengthens parent-child relationships. By understanding children’s experiences, applying MOT values, and practising practical skills, parents are empowered to raise resilient, compassionate, and confident young people.
